Exam Preparation

Abdominal Ultrasound

Please do not drink or eat/consume anything by mouth 6-7 hours prior to the examination. You may continue to take your medications with water as prescribed. Please do not chew gum before or during the examination.

Pelvic, Obstetrical, Biophysical Profile (BPP) or Renal Ultrasound

Please drink four glasses (1 litre) of water 1 hour before your appointment. Do not empty your bladder as this examination requires a full bladder. Your examination may not be done if your bladder is not full. You may continue to eat. 

Abdomen and Pelvic Ultrasound

Please do not drink or eat/consume anything by mouth 6-7 hours prior to the examination. Drink four glasses (1 litre) of water 1 hour before your appointment. Do not empty your bladder as this examination requires a full bladder. Your examination cannot be adequately performed if your bladder is not full.

Vascular Ultrasound

Your examination requires no preparation except instructed by your physician or Ultrasound technician. Please do not drink or eat/consume anything by mouth for at least 4 hours prior to your examination if you are scheduled for an Abdominal Aorta Ultrasound.

Pain Management Injections

It is not recommended that you operate a motor vehicle after your procedure. Please arrange for a driver or other transportation. For nerve root block or epidural injections, patients MUST have a driver present or other transportation. For spine injections, please avoid chewing gum or carbonated drinks the day of the exam.

Walk-in X-ray

This exam may not be possible if there is a chance of pregnancy and may need to be deferred to a later date. It is recommended that you dress comfortably. Please avoid clothing that has zippers, snaps, buttons and/or beading near the area to be scanned.

Rest assured we have taken several precautions to keep you safe.

 

Appointment Scheduling

While booking your appointment, we may ask you if you have the following symptoms: Fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat, and runny nose.

In addition, we may ask you the following:

  • If you have returned to Canada from outside the country in the past 14 days

  • If you have close contact (within 2 meters/6 feet) of a person with an influenza-like illness who travelled outside Canada within the last 14 days before their illness

  • If you live with or have had close contact (within 2 meters/6 feet) with someone who is ill with fever and /or cough), and has flu-like symptoms

  • If you have had close contact (within 2 meters/6 feet) of someone who has a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19

If you meet any of these criteria and think that you can postpone your appointment until you feel better, you have won our hearts and protected our vulnerable patients! Thank you.

Appointment Day

  • Upon arrival at the clinic for your appointment, we may ask you the above questions again to ensure there has not been any changes since you booked your appointment.

  • In addition, we will as that you perform hand hygiene prior to entering the clinic and we may also check your temperature to ensure that you do not have a fever.

  • It is required that all our patients always wear masks during your appointment and maintain physical distancing from others while in the clinic.

  • We have multiple hand hygiene stations scattered within the medical clinic that you can use to perform hand hygiene.

  • Please limit the number of people you bring to your appointment to just one additional person. If you can do without any additional person, we will appreciate it. Thank you.

Post Appointment

  • In addition to our routine cleaning, we will wipe down all equipment after your scan to ensure they are safe for the next patient. 

  • Should one of our patients test positive for COVID 19, we may share the list of other patients that could have been in contact with the said patient for contact tracing.
